Project Life 2012 :: Weeks 7, 9 and 16

Little by little, I’m getting caught up with Project Life.  I am working backwards — starting with the current week and then completing a week (or two) at a time. I am feeling pretty good about my progress.

I am embarrassed to admit that I still have to go back to 2011 and fill in a bunch of holes.  I’m hoping that will happen sometime this summer.

Here’s a look at Week 07 (February 12 – 18, 2012) ::

Fun week.  Jim and Samuel surprised me with a delivery of tulips to my classroom.  I’ve received flowers about 5 times in my lifetime — so this came as a complete surprise.  When our security guard came in to deliver the tulips, I told him he had the wrong room.  He gave me a puzzled look, somewhat embarrassed about possibly bringing flowers to the wrong person and proceeded to walk out with the flowers.  As he walked toward the door, he read the “to” card and realized that he had the correct room.  What a sweet and awesome surprise.

I’m continuing to keep gas receipts in my book — kinda neat to see the price fluctuations over the course of a year.  The “love” card came from Starbucks.

The insert here is just an 8.5×11 sheet protector to hold the card from the flower delivery and Samuel’s card from school.  I didn’t do anything with it — just stuck it here and called it good.  My Project Life album continues to be a place where I stash things that would otherwise go into a file folder.

Washi tape continues to be a quick go-to product.  I love the splash of color that it adds — and the ability to journal right on it.

Week 09 (February 26 – March 3), 2012 ::

Celebrated my mother’s 72nd birthday and another fabulous hand knit sweater from my sister.

Catching up here so I didn’t spend too much time making the pages pretty.  Working on getting stuff done.

Samuel received two amazing knits this week — a hoodie and hat.  Decided that the hat is a bit girly so we gave it away to a sweet girl who will appreciate it.  I have to admit — it is hard to give away her hand knits.

An important week in Samuel’s progress in walking.  He walked from his classroom to the car (upper left picture with me) holding onto my finger.  His balance wasn’t quite there yet but he was getting so close.  And he had the best time with his ba ngoai — he loved that she gave him a taste of her birthday cake.

Week 16 (April 15-21, 2012) ::

Something magical happened right around the time that Samuel started walking.  Rather than just walking, he took off running.  He’s more verbal (still fixated on the b sound) and communicates his needs fairly well.  The infant brain is so amazing to me — he’s picking up information and making connections so quickly.  Last night, he used to his finger to motion the movement of the fan and if you listen carefully, it sounds like he’s saying “round and round.”

On Sunday, Samuel found great joy in balancing a book on the table.  He was so excited about his new found skill, he clapped for himself.  How amazing is that — the boy sensed that he learned something new and clapped for himself!

On Tuesday, I couldn’t keep my eyes open.  Not because I was tired — I had an icky eye infection. Didn’t realize it at the time but definitely knew that I needed to make an appointment in the morning.

Super excited that I am now able to fit into some of my pre-pregnancy clothes (that’s the black-white photo me above).

Love that the weather around here has been nice enough for shorts and sandals.

This Saturday, we went to a Family Fun Day at Samuel’s school to celebrate the Week of the Young Child.  Their theme this week is “The Happiest Place on Earth” so his principal asked me to come in my Minnie Mouse costume.

Starting tomorrow, I will be playing along with Ali in documenting a week in our life.  I will be posting photos + words daily so I hope you’ll return this week to check out my posts.

Hi Autumn,

Your PL album is always fun to look at. Your pages leap with joy and happy adventures. Your work continues to inspire many of us. Thanks for posting and sharing.

Samuel is adorable as ever. I hope your boys continue to shower you with flowers, for you really deserve them!
