On the news.

John Herrington’s visit to our Kick-Off event made it on the news. Check it out here. Pretty cool, huh?

Wow.

I meet John Herrington, the first Native American astronaut! He arrived on campus at about 7:30 am and was escorted to the staff lounge for a series of autographs for student winners and dignitaries. He is a lefty and was careful not to smear the ink on the lithographs.

During the NASA Kick-Off [...]

End bitterness.

Luzianne Coffee is promoting a new coffee product that is less bitter and in the process, they are giving away money to their favorite non-profits to make the world a little less bitter.
Teach For America-Greater New Orleans (TFA-GNO) is one of the 6 non-profits eligible for a portion of the $50,000 donation from Luzianne Coffee. [...]

New toys.

I got up early yesterday morning to hit the sales at a few of my favorite shops. My first stop was the Green Tangerine where I picked up some Bazzill paper and the Zutter Bind-It-All. Then I went to Macy’s hoping to find a small coffee maker to our liking, but couldn’t even [...]

Happy Thanksgiving.

A couple of my friends and I, along with over 20,000 others, got up early this morning for the Run to Feed the Hungry.  The run has been a neighborhood tradition for 14 years.  I am glad to be a part of this neighborhood and to participate in such a wonderful event.

The view from the [...]

Day off.

Yay for holidays.  I love getting a day off in the middle of the week.
Today, I … slept in.  Made some holiday cards and wrote a letter to my friend.  (I love sending and receiving snail mail.)  Drove to the post office to mail a package.  Shopped for cornbread mix for stuffing.  Got a haircut.  [...]

Good stuff.

Spent this weekend at a couple Arts & Crafts fairs in the neighborhood.  We also went to a couple local antique stores where I found this new piece for my desk.

Had a bit of a sweet tooth on Saturday.  Drove to Sweeties for this …

Finished.

We did it! The backdrop for the press conference and photo shoot is done! J and I spent the afternoon painting the words “Our Home.” in Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Hebrew, and a bunch of other languages! What do you think?

Our Home.

Check out the backdrop for the NASA Astronaut photo op. With the help of a few talented and dedicated students, the project is 80% complete. On Monday, we’re going to paint the name of our school and the words “Our Home” in different languages against the black. I am amazed by the [...]

3 day weekends

are the best. Haven’t had one in a long time.
Had a blast shopping at the Scrapbook Expo. I also went to Beverly’s and picked up these Holiday stamps. One of my holiday projects will making card sets for friends and family.

On Sunday, I went out for an early morning run and then [...]
