Happy 30!
My mom called this morning at 7 a.m. and sang Happy Birthday to me. She’s so cute … I couldn’t take much more than a couple lines because she was dang loud! Love you, mom.
Got my keys to the new house today. (What a great birthday present!) Have big plans to move in this weekend. [...]

Last day of being 29
Started school today. I have 126 students, many of whom seem very shy (or perhaps sleepy, tired, and not ready to back in school). Classes were quiet today, especially 6th period. Love having the kids try to figure me out … is she nice? Strict? Mean? Hard? Crazy? [...]

CA State Fair
Went to the State Fair this weekend to check out some of the exhibits my friend has been telling us about.
We checked out the all-things-fried booth and couldn’t believe some of the items on the menu. Ever had fried diet coke? Fried avocados? How about a chicken sandwich on a Krispy Kreme [...]

Where I’m From
I’m from Café Du Monde with sweet condensed milk
From tumeric stained crepes and pho
I’m from a lone family photo
That holds the story of our adventure

From losing her slippers and getting yelled at for being careless
I’m from a little child
Who wanted no adult [...]

My Little Buddy
Isn’t he cute? I finally took pictures of a baby book I made for my friend. I love this picture – his cheeks are especially adorable. And I totally love this song by John Lennon.

This week …
has been crazy busy! Joanne and Cedric came to visit us from Los Angeles. We took them to Leatherby’s Family Creamery twice during their visit, gave them a tour of Sacramento, showed them our new home, and drove them to Davis to visit the not-so impressive frog tunnel. The city of Davis spent [...]

Mission: Organization
Like my mess? Yeah, I’m trying really hard to organize and pack for the move. I’m not moving for another couple weeks, but I anticipate crazy times ahead with the start of the school year and the move into my new house. So very excited about the whole process … I’m ready for some change.

Scrapbook Portfolios
Most of my scrapbooks document my everyday life and travels, but I have several that serve as portfolios for my teaching career. I have made a scrapbook for each school year for the last three years. It is not only a good way for me to see how my lessons and activities have [...]

The Green Tangerine
is an amazing store in Rocklin, CA. Mimi and I went there for the CKU reunion crop and we had a blast. Awesome to see everyone and their projects. Thanks for sharing your work! I am totally inspired to create.
